WEEK TWO - INTERMEDIATE COURSE
This course is only suitable for those who have already acquired the basic skills of Ceramic Restoration. Once again through practical step-by-step demonstrations you will learn the following:
- Mould making and casting
- Replacing missing lattice sections and relief work
- How to duplicate a missing handle, finial or cherub wing
- The Invisible Repair - Colour Matching
- Retouching decoration - by hand
- The techniques of Airbrushing
- Achieving the surface finish peculiar to bisque, parian ware, Poole Pottery and Wedgwood Jasper-ware
- The final glaze
- Replacing gold decoration - with gold powders
WEEK THREE - ADVANCED COURSE
This course is designed for those wishing to take up Ceramic Restoration professionally and for those with a sound knowledge of the basic skills already acquired by completing weeks One and Two previously. Step-by-step demonstrations are as follows :
- Replacing intricate and difficult patterns
- Further airbrushing technique
- Advanced painting techniques
- Drilling and dowelling
- How to achieve crazing
- The techniques of working with genuine Gold Leaf
- Business advice - Setting up - Estimating (once qualified)
